Tried searching. Couldnt find one on PCs in general.

Here’s my first mechanical PC. Just arrived today. Hoping to get at least one more.

How do you deal with the +/- on accuracy? Even a 1s deviation per day would amount to a minute in two months.

You adjust the time periodically?

Slightly peeves me as i had this notion that for perpetual calendars, set it once and no need to adjust ever.

Even the paper calendar hanging on my wall I have to adjust once a month, and replace once a year.
OTOH, unless your watch is electronic (and synced with an external time source) you're still going to have issues with leap seconds and the like. I don't know that true perpetual calendars of the kind you describe even exist.

A perpetual calendar's time keeping accuracy is no better than any other equivalent quality time only watch, you still have to periodically reset the time just like any other watch as it drifts over time. It's the calendar functions that never need adjusting as long as you keep wearing it. You will have to adjust manually the calendar in 2100 as there is no Feb 29 that year so your son, grandson or great grandson will have to plan for it.

Ty sirs. My first mechanical PC. So learning along the way.

So still makes sense to put in a winder so just minor adjustments every two months or so.

Thinking of getting another perpetual calendar. In YG.

And loving the look on the PP5327J -

The “boss” also recently approved.

but i heard it was discontinued. And some PP expert friends telling me to go for the 5140 or 3940 instead.

what do you think?

As a long time PP lurker and admirer (no personal experience yet) I would , at the 5140/5327 price range start to consider a 3rd series YG 3970 instead.

As I understand the YG 3970 and the 3rd series 3970 are somewhat undervalued currently.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt because a 3970 is my grail of grails 🥰

I also vote for the 3940. Just be aware that the circa 1988, Ref 3940 is in a 36mm case. That was the standard then, but usually considered too small by today's stsndard.

I thought about a PCC but though the price point would be double. I always thought the price of a PP PCC is more or less equal to the price of a PP PC and a PP Chronograph. Maybe true for the 5170.

I actually want a PCC (better if rattrapante or sinc am dreaming, add a MR to make it a grand complication) and was even thinking of getting a triple calendar chronograph in the meantime as a placeholder. Maybe a Zenith or Longines.

Already looking into the 3940 (they say the dial is better than the 5140) and will look into the 3970.

Anyway, am not in a rush. This will be a 2021 purchase for me.

1st gen 3940 is quite affordable and a very available reference in it’s various executions. Still undervalued imo

ty sir. let’s keep the undervalued a secret lest mr market finds out and it increases tremendously. 😀

did check out the prices at chrono24. comparable to brand new price for a 5327J.

don’t go by those numbers I bought a mint 3940G (not a 1st execution though) for less than 50K last year. C24 is ridiculous pricing. Small auction house sold a 3940J for 60K last week. Wears much nicer than 5327 imo
