Cool! Finally I can't buy a watch I couldn't ever buy if I wanted to anyway.

Interesting. Amazing a company would stop producing a product that has a 10-year waiting list. Now that鈥檚 luxury.

I鈥檓 sure they鈥檙e going to introduce something in its place. What they should do is discontinue all SS nautilus and aquanauts. Make them in PM only.

Apparently they鈥檙e just swapping all the lists over to the yet-to-be-described replacement.

Patek Philippe and Rolex are masters at this 'limited availability' game, the rest of the industry tries to follow suit with less success. Audemars Piguet does pretty well, and a few others.

Rolex, Patek, AP, and FPJ are the kings of the limited availability right now. They鈥檙e all using a halo watch(es) to drive sales for all of their other models.

I like that watch a lot at MSRP, not as much as I like the Royal Oak Jumbo 15202 though. The scalping makes the Rolex market look sane by comparison

As an owner of a 5711, I have decidedly mixed feelings abt this discontinuation. The market prices (which were already ridiculous in 2020) went up another 25% after this announcement. Though theoretically I should be happy about the 5711 being more valuable, in truth I end up hardly daring to wear the damn thing because it's become such a recognizable symbol, and cos I'm worried I'll get robbed.

First world problems I know, but still... darn. I much preferred it when I got it several years ago when it was a quirkily-shaped, uncomplicated (thus less hyped) Patek that was a bit more under-the-radar. Before all this SS sports watch insanity!

Even at MSRP, I would personally pass on the Nautilus (and did a decade ago before the crazy really hit). Owned a AP15300 years ago, and an Aquanaut too - sold them both fairly quickly. Mrs. Darlinboy still has a 15450ST in white.

I prefer the very-easy-to-get Omegas and not-nearly-as-hard-to-get Rolex Sub. 馃榾

Always helpful - the google is serving me an alternative even as I type this.. and with a PRICE DROP! 馃グ

Phew...I told my wife I wouldn鈥檛 buy any stainless steel sports watch over $150,000 and now we can relax 馃榿

Well , I am kinda delighted they dropped it. In my eyes it was becoming too defining of Patek in general view.

I kind of agree on the notion that 5711 for Patek was slowly in danger of becoming what Royal Oak is for AP. Brand defining , all encapsulating , nothing else is loved type of model.

Let's see if there is a rumoured replacement on the way.

The problem is Patek AD鈥檚 have a bunch of dress watches that just never sell. Cases are full of them while everyone is asking for a Nautilus or Aquanaut. Stern can holdout for now but eventually market forces win out.

A very deep thought. I like those words. Thank you man, I think the same way.
