Patek brown leather vs chocolate strap.

Good morning, All.

I may have a Calatrava incoming in yellow gold. If I do, I want to swap out the strap for a new one.

The Patek salon tells me that they have no chocolate straps at present, but do have a matte brown alligator one.

Googling hasn't revealed the difference between the chocolate and dark brown straps. Can anyone who knows please point out the difference?

Many thanks.

I find chocolate straps problematic when it gets warm.

@Vizard :

This is the stock strap my 5227R came with and how it looks after 6-mo of daily wear, minimal tweaking by my iPhone. So, maybe this helps by comparing it to whatever the Patek website shows when they’re new?

I don’t personally know the color difference between ‘chocolate’ and ‘matte brown’, but I’ve seen that with their rose gold at least, darker straps seem to look better than lighter ones. YMMV

I do prefer black on gold but I want a brown strap for when I am wearing brown shoes or accessories.

These arrived today. All are OEM from PP. Left to right:

Matt gabardine
Matt black
Matt dark brown

These are the color names Patek gives them. Each is alligator.
