Honda will provide the Sauber Team with engines from 2018. The contract will last for 3 years. I'm afraid another two cars missing the finish line...

Yes, missing the Canada upgrade must be incredibly deflating. It does sound like McLaren are setting up the expectation that they'll walk away.
Only problem is, that with no major sponsor and most of their funding coming from Honda...who will pay?
If Honda really wanted to save the day, the "upgrade" would be a Honda branded Mercedes unit for the rest of the season. If they can't be an engine provider, they can at least be an engine sponsor.
It's possible...could see Honda stepping away for a year to work with Sauber? Especially if McLaren do enter Indy with Honda...who knows?
I'd honestly be happy to see the back of Honda at this point and McLaren return to Mercredes power with this strong chassis they have and Fernando at the wheel.
Yes, I recall hearing comments from last week's race that Alonso praised the new chassis and other improvements made by the team and he was speculating where they could be, if only they had a different power source.
As much as I hate to say it you know, JCB & TAG Heuer made the right call in pulling out of McLaren when they did, at least you've got something to celebrate when Max & Danny Ric are picking up the odd win.
