I think the watch is all original and looks to be in nice shape.

I also think the price is high for a US market piece. The JLC versions are simply worth a little more.

Are we sure it's really 38mm? I'm only familiar with jumbo automatics.

Edit: Correction, I just wasn't aware of this model. Usually it's measured at 37mm, but it's a jumbo.

You guys are fast. Thanks. I didn’t realize it was a US market version not that it’s a bad thing.

For watches prior to mid-1970's.

LeCoultre on dial = US market

Jaeger-LeCoultre = Rest of the world.

My understanding is that when Jaeger-LeCoultre decided to enter the US market after WWII, the "Jaeger" name was deemed to be too German to be effectively marketed here.

In addition, many LeCoultre models were produced in US made gold-filled or 14K gold cases to save money on customs duties. A lot of watch companies did this, including Omega. Some steel cased LeCoultre watches were imported in Swiss made cases, since steel watch cases were only lightly taxed.

Hope this helps,

Always good to know. I’ve put all my efforts into the Zenith brand and haven’t done any serious research on the others. Maybe it’s time to start

Yeah I've read they were just doing this to avoid taxes.

I recon go for an 18k gold piece though for not much more than what this piece is asking.
