Omega Speedmaster Watchbox Custom

So my dad no longer wanted his Speedmaster box (due to having a large box for all his collection). He was kind enough to give it to me and as a newbie to watches I decided to customise it so I could use it for my very small collection.

I had seen others who have done similar mods to their boxes so that they can hold 10 or 12 watches but I wanted a box which I could also store my straps and accesories. I decided I would modify mine to hold six watches and have a compartment for storage also.

I used mdf wood panels which I cut up and then I wrapped in Charcoal Alcantara, which isn't an exact match with the grey omega previously used, but I think the colour works well. The box isn't perfect. This is the first time i've attempted anything like this, and there are flaws, but i'm pretty pleased with the overall result and thought I would post on here to get your guy's opinions.

Here are some pictures showing the build and final result.

Heres some pictures I took during cutting up the wood panels.

Welcome to OmegaForums!

Great concept, nicely executed; indeed one of the most practical box conversations so far.

You could use that last photo as your Avatar picture.

Awesome. I really like it. Your idea to have less watches and more strap storage, as well as the OG tools, is great. Gets my vote. 👍

Nice work! What did you use to attach the Alcantara? Spray adhesive?
