Good morning,

I recently bought my first Omega (ref 2551.80), on Ch24 from a reliable Japanese professional dealer.

The watch comes without box and papers, it has calibre 1109 (2892/A2) and the SN inside and outside is 4965….

I can’t figure out which EXACT YEAR it is as it is not mentioned from the dealer.

From some omega decoder online, the SN gives 1985, but it’s strange to me as I assume from what I read on official Omega website, that that watch is from the 90s.

Thank you for your help.

It will be from 1994-1995. Those were the only years that the 1109 was used on the SMP.

Thank you for your answer. If 1994 it will also be my birthday watch.

I requested also the Omega extract from the archive and will see.

I think there is a very good chance it will be. The auto model came out late 1993 or early 1994 and as I say the 1108 and 1109 movements (both were seen in early SMPs) were replaced with the 1120 no later than 1995 AFAIK.

if you do get an extract, please post it here as I would be interested to see one from the 1990s, they are normally obtained for earlier watches.

The extract has arrived. So I’m very happy about it. However It is written that the caliber inside should be 1120, instead mine is 1109.
However the number of the movement inside my watch corresponds to the number of the case and also corresponds to the extract number movement. Can someone clarify this? I attach photo of the extract.
