··Adam @ ΩFI am offering for sale a very nice ca. 1945 Omega ref. 2179/5. This is the so-called US Army civilian version, as there is no "US ARMY" case back engraving--these (actually most of this reference one comes upon these days) were thought to be marketed to civilians toward the end of WWII. There are not too many nice examples on offer.
This one is mostly original, except for some reluming of the minute hand (the way it came to me).
CASE and CASE BACK: In excellent vintage condition, no visible signs of polishing, with light scratches and wear. Case is about 35 mm across without crown and 41 mm lug-to-lug.
DIAL and HANDS: These are original. Dial is in excellent condition, with light even patina. There is a small chip in the lume in the hour hand, and the that in the minute hand has been previously partially relumed. Please see the photos.
CRYSTAL: In excellent condition, might be the original, though I am not sure of this.
CROWN: Looks to be the original crown, from others I've seen. In excellent condition. Sets and winds smoothly.
MOVEMENT: Excellent condition, cal. 30 T2 SC. Running well and keeping very good time, not serviced in my possession.
STRAP: Lightly worn vintage style IW 18 mm tan pigskin strap.
I am asking a (further price reduction of) $900 (USD), net to me. I would prefer a domestic (CONUS) sale for this one. Returns are accepted if my descriptions (including photos) are inaccurate, in which case I will pay return shipping. I have many references on this and other forums (mainly buying (!), with the occasional sale and trade) and have occasionally sold on eBay for many years.
