Might be hard to import given there are restrictions on skins into Australia for quarantine reasons... maybe I need to find a local elephant... Wonder if the Zoo would mind me borrowing a piece

Nah, you only need a teeny-tiny piece. 😁

I think the watchbands used on the original Constellations in the 1950's were all elephant leather. That was long before import/export restrictions on endangered species made these things politcally incorrect.

I saw one of these double stiched original Omega bands for sale on eBay about a year ago. I remember it went for a few hundred dollars.

Take care,

PS - While one Omega collection centerpiece was just sold, here comes another. Very nice old chronometre.

Its actually the fifth go-around for that one, seller keeps relisting it with no takers.

It's worth the opening bid for sure, but I suspect they want a lot more.

It has literally gone with no bids at that price and been relisted multiple times, I'd throw them an offer under it and see where it goes, if you make the opening bid imo its going to be yours, people have already passed at that price, even though I'm not sure why, I thought it looked rather good.

I looked at some of the other pieces the seller is offering. Some are outstanding, others not so much. Descriptions are sometimes correct, sometimes not so much.

You gotta buy the seller as much as the watch,

That's a good point, maybe if I find a zoo with a Jewish elephant I can call dibs on the foreskin, should be more than enough for a strap or two.

I'd hate to think what would happen to your hand if you rubbed your wrist too much!😝

::rimshot:: Thanks and don't forget to tip your servers....

Respectable Member dsio

Is there anything wrong with this watch for it to be listed, several times over?

As far as my little knowledge goes, there is nothing with this time-piece. Indeed, it is unique and we do not see such a watch, every day of the week.

Thank-you.

price a bit high is why it has not sold yet. It's a very uncommon piece.
