Omega 751 Quickset issues

Hi All,

I'm working on a Constellation with a day/date 751 movement. The quick set date feature has not been working, when pulling the crown in/out it only sometimes advances the date.
Is there any common troubleshooting steps here?

It seems that maybe the date wheel teeth have worn down enough that the date jumper can not reach the teeth to flick it over, although maybe there is something else going on here?
Another though is the quick date changer is worn, I'll have to check my stocks to see if I have a spare one to try replace it with for a test before ordering more.

Happy to hear some advice, as it will be a pain to have to buy a new date wheel for this.

Ok through posting this thread and talking out loud to myself I kind of explained the answer to myself!
I had a cosmic 752 movement here and switched out the date corrector to the gold wire style and it works! Now I just wonder why the old style was in there and if was normal to have that style?

Anyway, if anyone is selling a date corrector or scrap 751 movement let me know as I now need a date corrector for my cosmic haha!

The gold wire version is the replacement for the old steel version. Omega upgraded the part, so if your had the old style it was never upgraded. When I get these watches in for servicing, there are several upgrades that Omega has done that are taken care of - this is just one of them.

Interesting! Thanks for the info. It’s a shame the only way I can get the parts is through eBay, shipping kills it to Australia. I’ll likely have to just wait for another donor movement to show up.

Find a local watch material supplier and see if they have it. I know may amateurs really seem to like finding parts on eBay, but for people who do this for a living, eBay is the very last place I would look for parts. There are businesses out there dedicated to sticking and selling watch parts - those should always be the first stop before you go looking on eBay.

Hello, I am unsure if this question belongs here, but this is the only recent cal. 751 wachmaking thread that I identified. I am new here but I am a long time vintage Constellation collector.

I have a 168.029 day-date c-case with a cal. 751. I just bought an 18k 168.045 day-date, also with cal. 751. The 168.945 has the 18k dial and I am considering swapping that out (for something less "gold").

Does anyone know if it's possible to swap dials between the c-case and the 168.045? I can find another 168.045 with a dial that I like, but there are many more c-case variations available. Rest assured that I'll keep any original parts.

Thanks everyone for your help.
