Well, I did not want to comment on a watch which was on offer before the end of auction to begin with. And to be honest I was a bit gobsmacked about the post of
@Dsplash as I had planned to bid on the watch which was not easily found by collectors out of Europe, not presented/advertised very well and so I had hoped that it would stay under the radar of the big fish... but after the discussion here on OF I was sure that this hope was in vain, and so it was... unfortunately my bid was too low and I wonder about the high price the 2410 fetched.
pros:
2410 is not a very common reference and with good wearable size and waterproof case
the colour of the dial is also uncommon and this would have been my reason to go for it.
cons:
the condition of the dial was only average, not well preserved, several specs and bubbles, radium burn on the left side (between 8 and 9)
too short minute hand, the lume has been reworked on this hand
rusty seconds hand
wrong replacement crown (an original correct one is very hard to find)
a suspicious corrosion spot on the rim of the case which is a reason to worry, but maybe could be fixed with laser-welding. But these old case alloys can be tricky. I had two SS cases of that era which were impossible to be welded, it only got worse with deeper and larger holes.
