Anyone else out there with a Nixie tube watch? When you flick your wrist, it flashes the hours, then minutes, then seconds.

I have a friend who made a nixi tube clock from a kit- was a big thing among the hi-fi geeks.
Is this a modern kit?

I'm actually in the market for a nixie clock. Unfortunately, some of the tube pricing has gotten ridiculous.

The original ones that Woz wears have gone way up

The Woz model is from the same guy, and they've been $500 for at least the last ten years.

The bulk of that is what turns me off. I thought of building a Nixie clock but, I dunno, I was an electronics tech using HP equipment with Nixies in them and not terribly impressed.

For a watch it’s huge- wear it one day and the novelty would probably wear off quickly. But the clocks are cool

I prefer my wind-up Westclox. 😁

Does it take AA or AAA batteries?

This model uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. There's a micro-USB port on the side. A charge lasts at least a few weeks if you're wearing the watch every day. Lasts a few months if you don't. The tubes turn on when you twist your wrist to look at it, and you can set the angle.

I like it. More than the original hockey puck design. But I also have big wrists, which helps.

They are as new production but the early generation models are still trading for $1500+

That's really surprising. Forbes is the guy who made the Woz watch, and still makes that same model. There's nothing particularly different about the older watches compared to the newer ones.

I don't have a nixie tube watch but I do have a nixie clock.

I found an appropriate sized glass case to keep it in.
