Hi All,

New member from Manchester UK. I don't have a clue about watches, I'm sure this is the right forum to get some advice and information.

I was gifted an Omega DeVille watch on my 18th birthday. My father worked for Sirte oil company and used to get a watch every 5 years or so. The watch has never been put on a wrist. I would like to get it serviced and start to wear it.

Perpetual Watch Services Ltd in Stockport are a local repair shop to me, has anyone used them in the past?
Can anyone recommend a repair shop in the North west.

Thanks

Shahzad

Not an expert but isn't cal 1430 a quartz movement?
May just need a new battery. Just hope the old battery wasn't left inside and leaked!

Their frontage could do with a trim (see G00gle streetmaps) and they are fond of the "grocer's apostrophe", but they talk a good talk on the training and brand specialism. If they still have their Omega approval and parts account I'd go ahead and get a quote -- free so can't hurt, Omega dealers charge for it 🙁

Thanks for the replies, as far as i know the watch has never been opened so the original battery is inside, slightly worried now.
I got my dad to send over a few pics of his watch. He also received two other Sirte watches, not sure of the brand but I know that they were gifted to my uncles.

Once I have got a price for the repair I will create a thread.

Morning all, everyone is well.

I found this thread after sorting out my late grandfather's possessions in his house earlier this week. Found the 2 attached omega watches with the Sirte logo on.

I know my grandfather worked in Libya for around 20 years, in the 80s and 90s, and reading from another thread people seemed to be gifted these watches for every x years service? If anybody is able to shed some more light into these items I'd be really grateful.

If anyone here also has relatives that also worked at Sirte during that time I'd also be really grateful if anyone has any further information about my grandfather? His name was Eddie Veacock from Liverpool (I'm also from Liverpool) and he was a head co-ordinator. From a organisation chart I've found he appears to have been fairly high up as well? So yeh any help or assistance I'd be very grateful!
