New Swatch x (Swatch Group Brand) may be coming

If I was a betting man, my money would be on them releasing a Swatch Bathyscaphe version. It would be the easiest version to orchestrate...

The Bathyscaphe is a much nicer looking watch than the current fifty fathoms- but it doesn’t have its history. And the appeal of the Moonswatch is again to remind people that some watches are the stuff of heroes, that there’s an individuality to them, and that there’s nothing special about anyone’s smart watch. The legendary history of the watch is an important element of the appeal.

Aactually, it would be smart to release a smashing neo-vintage model of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, correcting all of the tacky elements, and do a Swatch version at the same time.

I think a Bathyscape model makes more sense if they want to stick to the original size (otherwise it would be weird ...) - the market for a 45mm bioceramic watch is just not as attractive IMO

If this video rumor is to be believed, it will be the size of a Bathyscape and have a dial similar to the original Fifty Fathoms. Will house the Sistem51 mechanical movement and have the name Sistem51 Fathoms.


Gotta admit, I’m intrigued and will probably get one eventually if the price is reasonable.

Sounds logical, especially to stay within the "There never has been a quartz Blancpain, and there never will' standard set by Biver decades ago.

I thought one of the weak aspects of the Moonswatch was the use of a standard quartz movement which has a built in eventual end date, they won't last very long compared to even a basic mechanical movement.

I like that these have a mechanical movement, albeit a plastic one. Much more interesting to me than the Moonswatch.

And there are seven seas, but five oceans.
I was hoping for a vintage fifty fathoms style in a 40mmish case.

IF that's what it looks like, I like it.

So the colors of them will all be taken from the color of a nudibranch that is native to each of the five oceans. This is not a joke.

We will know the Swatch Group has finally jumped the shark when they have a Breguet -x- Swatch hookup, maybe with a bioceramic eight day tourbillon.

Wow, they look even better than I expected. And a no-date option for the Arctic/Antarctic, as well as “no radiation” for Arctic.

Once the hype dies down, I will have to get one of these.

More attractive and impressive than the MoonSwatch, imo. Not sure about the pricing (US$400) for a plastic, non-repairable watch.
