New Planet Ocean Mini Review

Ducked in to look at the new release and I walked away with one. I really like the blue bezel variant and have been looking for a blue bezel diver. Almost pulled the trigger on the WG sub a few times but could never quite do it.

This watch is similar to the moonwatch in that though it’s a 42mm it doesn’t wear like one. The dial is small, lug to lug short, non protruding endlinks. It sits nicely against the wrist.

The blue bezel has a slight green / Mediterranean hue to it, I’ve added photos vs the Batgirl for reference. It wears slightly larger than the sub but the lugs, end links and way the watch sits actually makes it feel compact as well. Also the watch only weighs 165 grams with 4 links removed.

The key downside for me is the huge clasp (which actually counter balances the head well) with the ugly extension. I’m also not a huge fan of double sided AR.

Biggest grip about Omega is the micro adjust clasp has a very clunky design. Sorry, for pushing 9K+, you'd think they'd could come up with a more elegant design. My Sub has an integrated adjustable clasp which looks seamless.

Good watch 😉. Lug to lug looks slightly longer than on Speedmaster (47.2-47.5mm), so I assume Planet Ocean would be around 48-48.5-49mm, no data on website.
I am not a fan of Rolex, but satin bracelet on Sub looks better, bezel is cleaner, dial is cleaner. It looks like Sub today is ahead in legibility department. Also, small attention to detail - PO second hand lume may disappear in the night when it hits the bigger marker, but you never see this on Sub. It's hard to beat that classic design.

The lug to lug is actually 47.5 ish, they are cut off you see, and with no protruding endlinks it is very wearable.

I like the look of the dial and case, but the clasp is huge! Looks like a tag they make criminals wear when under house arrest.

That Mediterranean blue hint you mentioned is spot on. It looks far richer than the stock photos suggested.
