New Monaco for Monaco Grand Prix?

It comes back to whether we consider a Monaco a luxury piece worthy of the now asking £7k and £10k. No doubt the 2025 models will be more expensive, owing to some story the marketing team would make up pointing towards the watch's legacy, Gulf, Le Mans and SMcQ.

One would hope that TAG has learnt from their previous pricing strategy where they couldn't move the previous LEs (remember the seafarers), but I doubt that the depreciation of their watches and tye impression it leaves on the market is considered by TAG's marketing team.

Strange. The ones I saw were not numbered. It had “One of 970” for the 1970 Stopwatch and “One of 971” for the Gulf, eluding to the movie’s release year of 1971.

Oh... they're going with the silly numbering again. ::rimshot::

They’re gonna be numbered each of them so I’m guessing that helped factor the price point too 😭
From what i saw, they are doing the
one of xxx ... The only drawback
It makes me regret not getting the night driver even more:
Garde 5 titanium, fully lume dial and properly numbered

At this price point you can't really ask for luxury like individual numbering 👍🏻

That IS going to be the numbering. Only making that many of them for each, just skipping the individual specific numbers

That's not what I meant, I meant the dumbass 971 for 1971 and 970 for 1970. It's silly.

The “ONE of X” continues to be an extremely lazy way of doing LEs.

Yes I agree. I would prefer either do it the traditional way or not at all.

Oooh yes I agree but we all know it would take probably five years for TAG to move 1971 pieces of these. Or are you saying that numbers can be made up without having proper significance in history? 😝

I just went and looked at them at my local boutique. They both have the Heuer brand only and are Calibre 11 movements. the black one is really beautiful and has a dial that's almost identical to that stop watch. but the White jacket one had me considering my first Monaco purchase. The white strap is really cool and made from the exact same fabric as McQueen's jacket, like, they sourced it from the same mill. Its a silvery white with blue and orange stripes and a full color gulf logo. He said the US is only getting 20 of them. Both released tomorrow.

I am so tempted to get one of these! My heart keeps saying yes to the watch, but my brain keeps saying no to the price. 👍👎🤷‍♂️

Unbelievable that they can’t be label them properly on a 10k watch. Presumably they are etching the backs at the factory in China that machines the cases?

I really like the look of this one, but it would be tough to justify at 6k, let alone 10k.

I'm in the same boat. If this were 7K I would be picking mine up tomorrow. 10K?!?!? Man, I dunno.

It looks a lot like the CAW211Y, probably the least interesting of the 50th Anniversary models..

I was told 60 for the Gulf, I assumed a similar number for the other one too. Not sure I believe either number, it probably means a smaller number coming with the initial US allocation, then more batches coming later.

We've seen this pattern before; they don't seem to flood stores with all 9XX at launch. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the entire allocation to be completely sold out.

It's probably not evident from pictures, but I believe the silver portion of the new one's dial is an added layer. Making the black circular center portion appear sunken. This added dimension adds to the allure of the watch when seen in person. It's really quite striking IMHO.
