Could this be the perfect one watch? I know to most of us...”Perish the thought!” Opinions? For me this is a win for JLC. Looks amazing in RG as well.

This is a very impressive watch, if I had an extremely large amount of spare cash I would be thinking of getting one of these and one of the VC's that have just been announced, both companies have launched some impressive watches this year.

almost perfect!!! I wish it said “Gradue pour 30 pulsations” instead of “For 30 pulsations”. On the dial it says “Automatique,” and I think it would have been a better match if either both were in French (or both in English). If you look at the master calendar - they did this - on the outer track they wrote “Quantieme a date sautante.” Looks so much better (notwithstanding the whole “Swiss Made” business which is another matter. Also, this is a personal preference, but 38 or 38.5mm, with thickness in the 10-11mm range. And then yes - it would have been perfect!!! But I do really like this watch - I think JLC hit it out of the park with this and the Master Calendar.

I had the exact same thought as soon as I saw this watch. Perfect in every way.

Starting to highly consider the new master control date to be my next purchase. What kind of discount - if any - should I expect to get at an AD?

Probably won’t be buying this until October/November time if that makes any difference...

When I purchased my Reverso Duo around 2013, the typical discount for non-LE JLC watches was around 25-35% in the U.S.

I understand those discount margins have dissipated since mid-2018, after Richemont completed its wide-scale inventory buyback & destruction campaign. Around the last year or so, the Jaeger LeCoultre's warranty period for new watches was upped to 8 years. So that's an additional driver for value preservation of their newer watches. iirc, my Reverso only came with a 3-year warranty, which, as if on cue, expired a month or 2 right before it started having problems 🤦

I would hold off until 2021 or later. Purchasing a watch the year it debuts is not a recipe for maximizing your discounts. I learned this the hard way years with the Omega Globemaster...

In the meantime, or alternatively, you might try your luck at the previous 37 or 38 mm iterations of this watch? Especially if you're not too keen on a display caseback. I also think that was the perfect case size for this 3-hander design.

The 3-hander + date model is very slim! The sapphire crystal sits in line with bezel... no curvature at all in either the bezel, or sapphire, from the rest of the case. I tried on the 39mm that immediately preceded this, and didn't like the dial :: case height ratio.

I think its a good advice to try and find a 37mm example. Those can be found for like 1/3 of a price of the current version.

I just picked myself a 37mm luminova version about a month ago. And also enjoy the proportions of this watch so much. Not sure how different the current version wears in comparison to my one though.

My one gets almost all the wrist time right now. Such a lovely watch.

I got it on the jlc bracelet, and must admit i never wore a more comfortable bracelet!

P. S. Not sure what you mean no curvature in saphire or bezel? My saphire is curved.

The stainless won’t likely get you much of a discount like the RG version. Expect to pay very close to full price with a JLC trinket to make you feel better

This one, stainless steel.
I wonder how the watch looks in person. The blue hand on my watch mostly looks black. Its only on some angles that it catches the light and shines blue, which i like very much.
I like that the new one has brushed case on the sides, longer seconds hand and a bit slimmer crown. All in all a very good looking watch!

Eve, yours is exquisite! I'm a big admirer of those 37mm models, and wish I had purchased one of those instead of the Reverso for my first foray into JLC. The memovox from that generation, or master reveil as it was branded, also had excellent proportions.

I snagged this from an online auction posting, to show what I meant about the very flat profile of the previous 40mm & 39mm master control date generations from the 2010's. This photo's still angled...giving it an illusion that there's more of a step/curve than there really is.

I remember thinking "gosh, it's just so flat" when I held one a 39mm one in person.

I was debating between JLC and VC...
Value for money, it’s JLC hands down. Their triples are just as nice IMO for a more “reasonable” price point.
