Hello everyone !
My name is Rudy, I've finally decided myself to join the forum after enjoying reading a lot of threads in the past few years.
I am originally from France but I have been living and working in Munich for a year now. I am fascinating by anything mechanical since my youngest age. I am restoring old motorbikes, old cars (with a preference for old English ones)😀 and of course watches, clocks and anything that would keep the time !
I studied mechanical engineering and production technics (milling, turning, welding, plating..) and added a watchmaking competence too.
I am mainly enjoying doing watchmaking for myself during my free time and bringing back to life old things. I have a small watch collection with some old Breitling, Hamilton, Lip, Seiko, Omega etc..
I look forward participating to this Forum and discussing with all of you !
Cheers,
Rudy.

(A small picture of the bench for illustration 😀 watches will follow on separated threads !)

If you like eye candy you have one of the great vintage watch stores in Munich. Nice people who are happy to show and tell.

Welcome!

My father was a mechanical engineer, PhD and my youngest niece is studying it now.

I share your love for things mechanical, automobiles, watches, etc., learn by doing, not formally educated though.

Lots of other car enthusiasts here on the form as well.

This is very true ! I A lot of super good vintage shops here ! To which one you are referring to exactly ? 😀
I can spend hours looking at the EDER's or WT's shop-windows.

Stunning Montbrillant Datora that you have here NGO ! I guess this is this B21 dato' caliber who is beating inside, based on the 775x series. You should easily be able to find someone for the service 😀 Amazing movement to work on !
Kind regards.

I used to have a 1988 XJ6 with the 4.0. That car was super reliable. It got to over 300k miles before it got smashed into by a truck. White with a black interior.

Jeez Fred. Your car got smashed, I think I read one of your posts where you either got shot or stabbed. Spending time with you must be like being in a John Wick movie!

Well truth be told I wasn't in the car. I sold it to a pal of mine and he drove it for a couple of years until he got into the accident with the truck. No injuries but the car was beyond repair. 😁

Both of our JX8s (X350 and X358) went over 200k and my XJR is close to 150k. It helps to have a good mechanic, but they've really been quite reliable.
