Hi there, I am having a problem opening the back of a few vintage ladies watches. These watches need a "blade" to be opened. I have the regular one and it does not work well - actually (I will admit it) I cannot open them at all. Mine is similar to this:

Which opener in your experience is the most effective?

Would you recommend this one?

Thanks in advance,
Mary

I personally like blade type openers for snap back cases.

I don't know which type of case you are having difficulty with, typically snap backs will either have a protruding tab of some sort or a small chamfer cut into the case back allowing the edge of the blade to fit between the case back and case. Perhaps the edge of your knife doesn't have a fine enough edge.

I use a stiff bladed paring knife. Put the knife in your palm, blade facing out, and use the base of your thumb to squeeze the watch blade into the crack with gently increasing pressure. Less chance of hurting yourself that way. Even better if you use a cloth around the watch except where the blade inserts.

Yes, I was referring to the snapbacks. Thanks for your help. I will try again! 😀
