Am planning on bidding on this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Omega-Speed...948710119?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item4169d91ae7

This will be the first watch I have ever bought. However, it's not in mint condition, as you can clearly see the scratch in the hesalite crystal and the scratches on the case. Also, as far as I know, there is no box/cards/etc....

Can those of you who know watches advise on

1) What price I should be paying for a speedmaster of this quality?
2) Seller insists it is real, and has 100% feedback. Can I be assured of this?
3) How much would it cost to have a jeweler replace the hesalite and rebuff the scratches? Basically, to have this look new-ish again?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Refinishing could cost a bit and it will likely need a service due to its age. I'd expect 1800+ on it, and you could spend another 500+ sercicing and refinishing easily

You can get a newer one that won't need immediate servicing for around the $2500 mark, maybe slightly less

Hey! Thanks for the response. I will point out that the listing said the watch was 'fully serviced'. I believe that means I won't need to take it in for servicing, just rebuffing.

I figure if I can get it for around $1300 and pay an additional $300 to rebuffer, it'd be worth it. Thoughts?

Yea if it says fully serviced in the ad, that just means they're saying it was serviced. $1300 I doubt will get you there honestly, they're worth a lot more than that, especially if it actually IS serviced.

I would not take a seller's word that a watch has been serviced unless they have documentation. If the condition of the watch isn't to your liking, then don't buy it. Three of these SPs go up for auction daily on FleaBay.

^ Exactly what Bob said, thing is, all of the three that go up each day sell for above $1,300 unless they're seriously shagged out. A Speedmaster is like a 911, some models are cheaper than others but none are "cheap"
