My Latest Addition - 1968 1019 Milgauss

As a few of you already know as well as having a 'thing' about 1950's Omega Seamasters I'm also fond of late '60's / early 70's Rolexes.
I was born in 1968 and coincidentally Rolex made some stunning watches around that time. I've been lucky enough to accumulate a few but have always hankered after a 1019 Milgauss.
As you may know, they were very pricey and unloved in their day and after about 1966 were special order only with a long waiting list and not many were made at all.
So when I got the chance to catch a 1968 white dial Milgauss with the rarer of the two minute tracks I had to have it - especially in this condition.
Here it is in its original box
And on the wrist
And with a bit more detail
It also came with its original 7206 bracelet but that's already in a box in its way to Michael Young to be tightened so the watch will live on this one for the next 8 weeks or so.
Not sure I believe in the concept of the 'Grail' for me - I don't have a 1016 or a 1655 yet and I'll be just as excited when they eventually come along, but this is pretty close.

Now that's a very elegant Rolex..馃憤 I especially like the understated "shimmer" of the dial when it catches the light, and that red 'Milgauss' text and arrowed second hand. A GREAT catch..

Wow...not a common piece at all! You don't see too many of these. 馃憤 Did you buy it from the original owner?

Nice one Giles. Enjoy it to the fullest. This one with the black dial and the 1016 is the one I hope to add in the future.馃憤

Thanks very much guys - it's much more dressy than my others so it really serves a purpose (like that's a consideration! 馃榾 )

As the sun has now graced us with its presence here in England I thought I might take a couple of new shots, one on the wrist and one with the others from the Rolex box

That Milgauss is stunning, they looked so much nicer without the lighting bolt seconds hand.

Thank you - While I'm fond of my Omegas and the people here are really nice (don't tell them that though) my real watch passion is vintage Rolex and this is indeed a rare beauty - I'm very fortunate to have it.

S'alright - they already know my primary brand is Longines and they haven't booted me.

....yet.
