MY GRAIL SEIKO 6159 7001 300M DIVER

I would like to share my Seiko 6159 7001 300M dive watch which is one of the most beautiful watches that came from the rising sun. This model is very hard to find and is much sought after by collectors. The watch is powered by the venerable Seiko Hi-Beat movement (36,000 BPH). It took me a long while to find one in untouched condition. I was lucky enough to meet a reclusive collector who has a stash of 1400 watches! He has 4 of these model and was kind enough to sell me one on the condition that I will not negotiate on the price that he wants for the watch. I just bit the bullet and paid for what he wanted. Its well worth it anyway.

I asked him if I could still buy one more in the future and he seemed receptive to the idea. This guy also has a vast collection of bullheads. I saw at least 10 Omega bullheads but he would not sell even one.

Congrats on your Grail but caseback is 6159-7000 instead? Based on serial is circa 1968 seems correct for 6159-7000 with count down bezel.

On the one hand, I would love to have 1,400 watches. On the other hand, there would would be 1,399 tragedies a day...

One day these watches will have to be sold, even if by his next of kin. That will be an interesting day for the market (if sold at the same time). Anyone heard of that happening before?

I always thought he had more than 1,400 watches. Maybe closer to 2,500. He is a hoarder tor sure. The last ones i got from him a few months back were 2 Breitling bullheads. Its easier for him to let go of his non japanese watches. I tried to buy a Grand Seiko First from him before and he would not sell even one of around 30 that he owns.
