I finally got my grail vintage Paul Newman Daytona ref. 6241 with the exotic tri-color dial. Its been a long time coming but the wait was well worth it. Actually, i have not thought again about trying to acquire one after my last serious run in a 2018 auction. Last week, i just got this urge again so when i called up my dealer, he offered me this watch which belongs to a top collector here. When i saw the condition and beauty of the 6241 in the metal, i could not let this pass so we struck a deal and the watch is mine. This is the best addition to my collection now.

not every day you see a perfect PN on OF. . love this piece. they are indeed quite special despite the hype and it is interesting to me the values basically stopped going up for several years as the modern stuff has gone crazy. i bet people will come back to these classics

congrats !

The covid pandemic caused an artificial supply shortage of high end modern watches with factories closed or in half operation only. But now that the supply has normalized, the price of modern watches has gone down dramatically.

It’s an awesome situation for people who love watches to see it become a buyers market again that’s for sure.

Indeed a lot of speculators lost money because of the sudden price drop in the last 6 months.

Grail is a term vastly overused. Anything from a Planet Ocean, to a Casio, has been called a grail. Every now and then a watch comes out that is not just a personal grail based on individual taste, but a bona fide industry grail.

This, by all accounts, is not just a grail, but one of those that have everyone chasing after it around the world from King Arthur, to the crusaders, to Indiana Jones.

Beautiful watch.

I have little love for Rolex, but this is one amazing watch, where I'd make an exception for sure. 😀
