My first V&C

Sharing my newest watch - a Vacheron & Constantin P454/3B from 1950.

I’ve always wanted a classic Vacheron & Constantin - something that features a reputable movement, a nice dial, case, in excellent condition, and definitely with the “&” in the name ( personally love ampersands).

With the patient help and uncompromising guidance of one of my watch mentors - our very own @Tony C. - I went through dozens of examples over the last year, making sure I find one that not only satisfied the above criteria but equally delighted my own style and taste.

This V&C has a nice guilloche dial, allowing the applied gold markers to pop out. Then, there’s the V&C wordmark resting on a plank. There are some blemishes, but overall, I’m happy.

The yellow gold case is very comfortable on the wrist at 37mm. The tapered (Batman), hooded lugs, are commanding and sleek at the same time.

Of course, another highlight is the movement. This watch features the legendary caliber 453, one of V&C’s classic movements, that served as the base caliber for many classic V&C watches.

All in all, an elegant, subtle watch from a great period of a legendary manufacturer. Thanks Tony!

Nice, nothing beats the elegance of a 3 hand no date gold watch.

Congrats 😉

( I do think it deserves a expensive Italian crocodile strap )

A fine, elegant and understated piece. The strap dresses it down for today’s more casual attire. Congrats …

Congrats! I have a similar one, but with a central seconds P454/5B instead.

From the look of it, they share the same case and interesting lugs, especially the lugs which cover the sides of the strap slightly (as I've shown in the 2nd pic). I really like those unusual "Batman" lugs as you've called them (good name!)

I’d stay casual. Shell Cordovan, Distressed Alligator…

Gorgeous dial and movement, congrats @aap
Didn’t know there’s a ‘&’ between V C until today. Wear in good health!

Thank you! From what I read, they dropped the & in the 1970s.

What's not to like? The dial, the movement, the lugs, always something special with these beautiful vintage Vacherons 🥰

Me neither as mine is VC not V&C - learn something new each day...
