Movado Sub-Sea Chronograph 95M......

Bought this years ago and I knew it was a redial, which was factored in to purchase price. Lumpy, non-original and poorly repainted hands also factored in.

What I did not know was just how beautiful this watch was at one time!

I thought it was just a garden variety 95M with a redial in a nice FB case.

I never looked up the complete reference until today, and was blown away by how beautiful the original dial was...

Chiming in here to make you feel slightly better.. the reference number 95-704-568 is extremely general and basically means SS waterproof cased 95m chronograph. Just mean to say that the previous owner probably did not ruin a masterpiece to the degree you may be thinking

Speaking of redials, is there a video or something where one can see how one of those dyes/molds/patterns whatever they're called (the ones that look like a boob) are made ? Original or remade, doesn't matter... Just curious how hard it would be to accurately recreate one.

That could be said about a number of brands including Omega. I'm my opinion its true for Longines, Mulco, Movado, Marvin, and even Patek to name a few. Personally, I cant stand how Patek's new chronograph movements have the sub dials below the centre of the watch.
Having dissed the brands above, its clear they are not selling to or targeting customers like me. People must be purchasing these watches. Sometimes we get caught up on our own opinions and likes and forget not all people are the same. I often think, if companies only sold the things I liked, they would go out of business.

They are amazing watches. The Breguet numeral dials (your first couple links) are grails for most Movado collectors and command sizable premiums. This is my most recent Movado and one of my favorites.

We have to say - honestly - that not every watch with that same ref would features incredible dials or breguet numerals. But of course origina dials were amazing.

So true. If the Museum dial wasn't so popular we'd all be talking about how nuanced and sophisticated it is
