So been desiring a mini turtle because I’ve been desiring a mini turtle because I got this weird thing for watches. Not an expensive watch and I forgot I had a 25% discount from the selling place as a purchase I attempted to make went bad. It’s just one of the mini eBay sites that can be decent for watches. The issue I have with seiko is they mod so much you can get turtle cases, dials, real seiko movements from other countries and do your thing.

This one here is hacking and handwinding just a date with a cyclops I think it’s all good. Gotta compare and this is my first turtle. See enclosed picture of the new door knob and dead bolt I installed, yes even when buying cheap things I do some home repairs so if my wife starts complaining I can distract her with a repair

One of the most overlooked modern Seiko divers out there IMO.
I love it for all the reasons everyone else hates it.
UFO case- check.
Smaller propositions- check
Cyclops and date only- check
Thumbing my nose at the SKX only
crowd- check.

Mine says hello wearing a 70’s style razor bracelet.

that is pretty much how i want a seiko exactly san cyclop

now big question if you could please enlighten me is it stock or mod?

if hacking, movement must be nh35, not 7s25?
I have seen that you can remove the cyclops and there are aftermarket flat crystals that fit it

Well that’s what I need to determine as I bought it as stock but one never knows in this crazy world of watches I did look up the model and it did say stock was hacking and hand winding but my faith in humanity when buying from strangers is not 100% unfortunately.

side track i am looking at this as well which looks like to me as a mini turtle and speedmaster cross pollination with some c case gene contamination happened at a parallel universe

no sure if its a sane judgement to spend some hard earn $$ for such a beat up used watch though but design philosophy and geometry are catching me

on the other hand about srpc35j1 it has always been positive experience as being the first owner for a jdm watch or any made in japan small mechanical pieces (read camera, walkmans, keyboards), never regret after decades, comparing to majority of my watch collection being second hand where there were some delayed buyer remorse popped up sometimes after a few years

so it has been used vs new dilemma again

Oh damn I like that. TBH I ended up with the mini turtle as I missed out on a seiko bullhead I made an offer 50 dollars under asked then started studying the reference for originality. I’m pretty sure it was legit and we talked, agreed on a price, got tied up doing something for ten minutes went back to buy it and it was sold. That stung a bit still bothers me a little. I’ll tell you straight out I paid 360 for this turtle. It isn’t “new” but I honestly can’t find any dings or signs a ware. He also threw in two additional straps. I have only had this thing for hours and i have no regrets. I also do like to have new or newer things. So you have a tough choice I really like that vintage you found I don’t think you will go wrong whatever u decide.

The fake parts market for the mini turtle is nil- it wasn’t a popular watch. There are a few skx parts that can be swapped but not many. You got a good one @Walrus.

I thought that as well JW but it runs the gamut they even use seiko movements in the fake ones. I watched someone break one down on a site warning about the issue. He had payed 50 bucks on one of those sites. It was very close what gave it away was a crappy bezel. I don’t know if there is anything left that isn’t faked. It was not this mini turtle and I don’t recall the reference you can probably go on Reddit right now and buy a few.
