hi OF,

i am new here. Nice to meet everyone here.

i like vintage watch, and have collected a few omega and universal watches. most of them are without complicate functions.

Last week I just bought a vintage tri-compax 22283, cal.481, produced around 1950.
However, the crown and calander sub-dial hand looks like not original, and i want to replace it. i have looked through ebay quite few days, but still no finding.

Any idea where i can find them?

Also, if u see any parts suspect not original pls let me know, i am willing to learn more.

thanks!

EBay, Chrono 24, if you have a restoration watchmaker ask them to check their parts network. The date hand is incorrect but it’s not obnoxious. Crown looks fine too, possible service part but also close enough to original. Leave it alone and enjoy. Parts these days are haystack needles. You risk more harm than good with crowns and hands. I’d focus on the hand if it bothers you.

additional info, i think most of u recognize this piece, i bought from bonhams few days ago. it still in shipping.

the bonhams condition report says "crown maybe not original", but for me it looks more like overused.

i am more worry on the calander dial hand, coz so far i never see this kind of thicker hand on tri-compax, and it should be red right?

Anyway, i still willing to pay almost 8k usd for it include tax and shipment. i love the sesame shape marker. and the dial looks nice and origin. Just never expect it is so hard to find spare part.

good news everyone!
i just bought a cal 287 movement on ebay, and it coincidently have both of the parts i need: the red hand and crown. and i compare the picture with 22283 model, they looks same.
i know that my tri-compax using cal 481, the structure is different with cal 287, but both these 2 movements was been used in tri-compax in same period 1940s. so i assume the parts can swap.
And just few hour ago, my watch maker told me both the hand and crown can be use. i finally make my tri-compax kind of "all original".

btw, i will sell the rest of part of the 287 movement after 2 or 3 month, once my watch maker finish his job. the movement condotion is quite good, just missing pusher, hands and crown
