Live vicariously through Ed (@Hijak), Nigel (@NT931), Marc (@MMMD), Pete (@Barking mad), or Anders (@Andsan) in the WRUW thread. Several more members have those now too.

I've been avoiding the WRUW thread most of the time recently. It's DANGEROUS to my bank account.

I cannot stress enough how spectacular it looks irl in daylight.

It looks nice enough in pics or under artificial light, but in daylight it's insane.

Agree, they're pretty glorious.

And let's not forget the obverse.

Hi folks I would like to trade the yellow gold plated buckle below against the same version in solid steel.
Would be the perfect addition for a Conquest Deluxe date at 12 by the way 😀

I have something for the "what's not real" section today. On ebay you can buy these:

Those are not made too shabby. The applied hour glass logo is nice and the pin is closing correctly, but there is no stamp on the inside neither manufacturer nor "stainless steel" or "unroc". Supplies from dealers seem unlimited too. So please take care.

Is having a correct buckle considered a good investment in a vintage watch? I'm wondering if I should have a modern Longines tang buckle attached to my incoming Flagship, or if it's best to wait for an appropriate vintage one. I imagine that a vintage one would certainly add some value; if a modern buckle won't attract any premium above an unbranded buckle I won't bother going that route and I'll wait for a period correct piece.

Great investment of your time perhaps, if you think the reward of having/gazing at the buckle will be sufficient return for you 😉

The money spent might be better spent elsewhere then. Thank you for your advice!

I need a strap and buckle for my 1965 Longines 30CH. Does anyone know the strap size and buckle size? I think the strap is 18mm. I tried measuring the watch with a caliper. Online there are a few original Longines straps, and some used buckles. Anyone know if "original Longines" is real or a Chinese knockoff with a fake Longines engraving on the leather? Thanks.

Double posting is unnecessary. Patience is necessary.

Can anyone help with this one? 18k white gold, 14mm inside width. Came with the below mid-1950s Flagship but I assume it isn’t original given the Flagship is SS.

The WG one, if it is in fact gold, may have been a Japanese market buckle. There were some odd precious metal cases made for Japanese market IWC, and I suspect for other brands as well.
