Longines 12.68 Z - To buy or not to buy?

Hello everyone,

I know a little bit about Omega by now. I have no idea about Longines, but I stumbled across a Longines that I like.

According to the movement number, the watch was made in 1946 and is fitted with caliber 12.68 Z. I'm not sure whether the dial is original, although I think the lettering is fine and the indexes look good - the condition is almost too nice for me. The luminous material could also be retrofitted, at least I suspect so.

What do you think of the watch? Should I leave it alone or can I buy it (if so, what would be a fair price)?

Nor the crown... Seems to big to my eyes.
But that is the least of the problems, like mentioned before... Vade Retro dial!
PS: I retract my crown comment 😀

Not only has the dial been refinished, but the design is almost certainly incorrect for the case/reference. One would not expect to find applied baguette markers in a "sei tacche" (nickname that refers to the six notches on the case-back) such as this. EDIT: More typically, one finds either printed or radium hour markers. Embossed markers are also possible.

Don’t want to sound harsh, but if you could not identify this as a (very obvious) redial, you need to continue your research prior to considering a buy 😀

I always like clear words 😀. With Omega / IWC I can now recognize re-dials quite well, but I've also done a lot of research. With Longines, I'm simply clueless - I prefer to stick with Omega / IWC. ::psy::
