The lack of minute register means the other large orange hand is for minutes, right? Therefore the regatta timer makes sense.

The central sweep minutes counter is a fantastic design for most timing purposes. Even guys +50 are able to read them without glasses.
I believe this might have been a patented feature of Lemania.

The calendar-y feature is interesting. "What day of the week is the 23rd?"
