“Lets start a lux, independent watch brand, with unique complications! “ “Wow! Great!” “ Lets give it a name that sounds like child’s toy! “ “ummmmmm.”
Ah glad you said that as I have had the exact same thought figured there must be a reason for it. Can’t find it yet but I think this article goes a bit into the movement have not had the chance to read it all but mentions 600 parts

I do a lot of photo and video work outdoors, so a sunrise/sunset complication is very handy for me. Alas, it's way out of my price range. I think I'll have to settle for g shock if I want that complication. 🙄

I have also found if I take off my sunglasses I can get a pretty good idea how bright it is. Sure sometimes you need to wait a minute cause things seems extra bright right after you remove your sunglasses but then you can take a good look around and if things are like clear and bright that is a pretty good sign it’s daytime and the sun is up.

Omega has had great success milking a cartoon dog theme, why not use a child's toy as the name of your new watch company?

Ok found it. It was in the article with the owner discussing the movement. Krayon means pencil and he explains why pencil, perhaps pencil would have been better?

When I came up with the concept of the Everywhere timepiece, I turned Krayon into a watch brand to release this unique timepiece. The name “krayon” comes from French word “crayon” which means pencil. The pencil is the very first tool you use to create a new invention, and it is a device that is mechanically very simple but that can achieve very advanced functions.

So how much to service this I wonder? 70k, more I’m curious

Right from the designing to actual production, how long is usually the process of making a watch? What are the components that play the role here?

Since I founded Krayon I wanted to create a sunrise and sunset complication, but it seemed such a shame that it had to be pre-set for a specific location, I decided to go beyond this barrier and create a mechanical calculator to show accurate information anywhere on Earth. The first step I found the mechanical principles for this calculator, this took me one year. Starting from this point I took the challenge to create a wristwatch with such a mechanism, and it took me 3 years of very intense work to achieve and present Krayon Everywhere. The movement is composed of nearly 600 components; they have all been created specifically for this timepiece.

I work with my network of suppliers for the machining of the components, with talented artisans for the finishing, decoration, miniature painting, engraving, then all the assembly and adjustments are made in my small workshop in Neuchatel with the help of my watchmaker.

The components who took me more time for development is definitely the “differential gear tower” located just next to the balance wheel. This sub-assembly composed of more than 35 components include two differential gears, that combine information from different mechanisms and drives the display discs. I designed, realized assemble and tested 3 versions of this consecutively, to achieve the proper functionality.

Wait he makes five a year and has a two year waiting list? Sounds like Rolex can learn from this guy

Krayon makes watches only on order, with five being the maximum output per year. How sustainable is this business model? Do you plan to increase production in the future?

This model transforms the seemingly ‘disadvantageous’ picture of a very small company that makes each piece one by one, into the advantageous reality which offers services and flexibility that my customers cannot find with large brands and manufactures, the personalization for example.

Only the final assembly of the movement takes two months of work, the complete process for a complete timepiece is more than one year of work.

Today, I have a waiting list and a delivery time approximately for two years. With this fact and having the vision to set up exclusivity, I cannot and do not want to increase the production, as I need to be personally involved in the creation with each of my customers.

Good watchmaker and good businessman....

Not a great analogy but with a two year waiting list, I guess he’s doing ok. Five watches a year, he has a day job.

Here is the english version of the site. Very interesting indeed!
You found some excellent pictures showing off how beautiful that case really is. I was more focused on the dial and movement buy my goodness that case is out of this world. Diamonds on watches aren’t really my thing but they seem to work on this design. I’d love to see how that case is manufactured.
