hi all

i bought this universal geneve compur 30 about 3 year ago. i checked the serial number, it was produced around 1940, the case shape, movement matches, hand looks perfect.

However, i did not find this dial in any reference. the character "compur 30" at 6 o'clock looks strange, and i suspect the dial was restored.

the chrono button on 2 o'clock is running good, i can hear the crisp sound. The rebounce of reset button at 4 o'clock is a bit weak, most of time only half rebounce, i need slightly touch it, then it will full come out. i brought it to a local watchmaker, and he said its normal for this kind of old chronograph, coz they use lever to reset, not spring.

please tell me what u think. thanks!

Hi,
a straight hires foto of the dial would be helpful, instead of a blurred foto in artificial light from the side.

Hi and welcome to the forum, and congrats on your lovely UG.

1) your pictures are not sharp enough

2) I don't see anything wrong with the dial from what I can see so far

3) you don't analyze dials in a vacuum, the best thing you can do is find as many examples of your exact dial and cross reference details across all examples you can find. A quick search turned up the below example. Pick a detail like the "weird" E in UnivErsal Geneve. Same in both examples. The chances that both these unrelated watches were both redialed by the exact same dial plate..........very low. The chances both dials left the factory like this............very high. You can increase confidence by finding more examples to compare, but I wouldn't worry about it.......Just enjoy

Because I have an archive with them 😉

I know 16/17 of them:

Reference was made in at least 3 batches of which 749k is the 1st. This batch was probably made in 1100 pieces
