Thank you that's what I suspected! I would really appreciate hearing from @LouS and @woodwkr2 for comfermation or differing opinions

Redial. And as Byron will mention. The seconds hand is not original. 😉

Oddly enough I'm starting to love these well done redials. They look incredible.

Yeah he told me that part was pretty obvious thanks though and I tend to agree just not if you want it as an investment which I don't!

That's an outfit that specializes in very good quality redials - not always disclosed, but conversely, I haven't seen them asserting something is original when it is not. You have to read their descriptions looking for the strategic omissions - if it does not say "original dial" it is not.

Watchsmuggler are pretty good in my books. Not bought through them though Simon seems to be very genuine and discloses when they have done a redial on them. I guess that is their USP. Some people just want a vintage watch that looks new and nothing more. I must admit the one in this thread looks incredible. Not correct? sure. But still looks amazing!

I agree it looks incredible I just want an original dial. And this was my first time speaking with Simon and he could not have been nicer/ more forthcoming sadly that's hard to find in a prominent dealer today!

Redial, pointy "A" the most obvious give away.
Hi,

Is a pointy "A" a give away ? I don't understand why, even on vintage U.G. ads from1938 or on Sala's "original" dials some "A" are pointy...

Usually redials the thirty-one is not red anymore. Subdials are painterd over, this dial looks very nice ! To me it's as good as an original dial, minus the inpact on our ego ! LOL

I am not really an expert either but I never saw "TRI-COMPAX" with a pointy A

Nice refinish indeed but the mix between the flat topped "3" and round topped "3" in the subdials is a definite give away and ruins the whole nice job pretty much, let's not forget that U.G. were famous for their detail and elegance...
Not to mention the enormous value difference between an original dial and a refinished one !
