Is the Silver Snoopy worth 15k?

Forgive me. I don’t know much about watches. As far as build and materials go, how does the snoopy compare to other watches at its price point? The commemorative value doesn’t mean much to me. I just love the aesthetics.

Possibly it is, if you want it badly enough. I was lucky to get mine at msrp, before the may markup. Then I added 910 for a bracelet. IMO Omega is the best brand, equal or better than the R brand, and actually acquirable.

How impressive is the snoopy movement on the back? As far as watches, is that considered special?

More like unique. Look through the Snoopy threads for macro pictures of it. by @PandaSPUR

I got my snoopy new for around $15k, I have tried to get it at msrp but I was not successful or willing to buy bunch of unwanted Omegga watches just to get a snoopy.

For me the snoopy models are the most collectable in Omega line up and the most beautiful pieces, they combine nice humor with historical significance

Only you can decide if it’s worth for you. Someone likes the cartoonish, someone doesn’t.

For me, I just love the watch so much, no regret since I got it.

It's a personal decision. Is the Snoopy 45th worth $40k? To some people, it is. It just depends on what it means to you. But don't look at it as some sort of investment, it's not likely to zoom upward in years to come. I think $15k is about where it is going to settle long term.

To me, the Snoopy isn't worth MSRP, and when the boutique asked me if I was interested (not really offered, so much as feeling me out I think?) I told them as much.

The blue/white is a nice-ish combo, but IMO the normal white speedy is more attractive, and I'm just not a fan of the Speedmasters with stuff in the subdials, let alone a cartoon, and the rear complication is interesting/novel, but silly/cartoony for me.

That said, I fully admit that my opinion is not a common one.

Not worth 15k based on build quality.

1861 movement less than 3k

El Primero movement, less than 4k

1861 movement less than 5k

Snoopy is pushing it at 7k

If you compare with watches costing 15k, then Snoopy is not worth it IMO. You get the same case finishing as the standard Moonwatch with 1861 costing 4-5k, or 6k for 3861. You don't see the caseback while wearing anyway and it adds an unnecesary complication. The silvery dial nice but you can get a Tokyo Rising sun and swap the bezel with a blue ceramic one from Spiralwinder to get the same vibe sans the cartoon. For me, the Snoopy price is +1k compared to the current sapphire sandwich, so 9-10k. I can't buy it for that price obviously, but rationaly thinking about it, it is not worth more. I don't think its price will rise after they cease its production, there are too many produced and it is not a numbered edition.

Whether or not is worth 15k is subjective. Objectively, there is differences with the watches you are comparing. Snoopy 50th has a 925 silver dial, I think the snoopy engraving is done with laser ablation. The bezel is blue ceramic with white enamel. The case back is also specialized. The 3861 is metas certified , requiring more testing . All of this add up to a watch that is more expensive to manufacture than what you are comparing. Subjectively, the watch has a lot of hype and I can see why it might not be considered “worth it”… Omega prices is accordingly … because they can .

It's subjective, and it's veblen good btw.

Hmm, how could you get the Apollo 11 35th for less than 5k? At least the bezel is not correct for the watch.

Or this is a normal 1861 with replaced dial?

A thing is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it, not to be cheeky about it. You won’t get a universal response here or even much of a consensus. But if you’re asking if anyone else would be willing to pay that much, the answer is yes, which means if you acquire it for that amount and then want to sell it, you probably won’t get hurt too badly. (You won’t get rich either.)

Put me down for the “no way” camp, but, then, I’m not the target market for that watch. I honestly wouldn’t be interested in purchasing one for 3k other than to flip it.

For 15k you can get into much more watch: preowned early 2000s Rolex Day-Dates in precious metals, or preowned pieces from Lange or even vintage Patek. To spend that kind of money on a new steel piece from Omega just seems unwise to me. But who cares about my opinion—or anyone else’s?

It's a Veblen good, trying to rationalize price on some scale of the quality of the movement, dial or case is foolish. Too many here focus on price, they really don't understand the luxury goods market.

If it's worth it to YOU, then it's worth it. I love it and have no regrets. And much nicer on a bracelet.
