Can someone from across the pond enlighten me about Boodle & Dunthorne? I've dug a bit and it appears they carry Patek.
What of this example?:

Boodles in London is a very old jewellers going back to the 18th century or so. Not sure if Boodle & Dunthorne are connected, but it may be worth investigating.

If wiki is to be believed, they were founded as Boodle and Dunthorne in Liverpool in 1788.

That's the same Boodles then. They're very high end, so it may be Turler type equivalent of branding on the dial.

Co-signed pieces by Universal are fairly unusual in and of themselves, but I've never seen anything that resembled this watch, nor a Boodles UG.

This is an extremely rare Universal, UFO watch, known more elegantly as the "Prince" and offered at two very high end jewelry stores circa 1936. Above pictured in an Hermes advertisement and lacking a Universal Geneve signature on the dial, and in the OP, pictured with the co-signed dial with Boodle & Dunthorne, Liverpool.

Gilt on black dials were quite unusual as well, offering a nice contrast for what appear to be gilt hour markers and solid gold leaf hands.

While Hermes and Universal were known partners, this is the only example of a Boodles watch that I have ever seen, having searched through everything in my database and on the net.

Can anyone in the UK direct me to a newspaper or other archive that might contain an original Boodles Ad for the watch, circa Christmas 1936?

You thought that because you were drinking too much of this stuff:

I love the Brits... not too many places where you'd open such a ridiculously named, high-end jewelry store and try to be taken seriously.

Cheers to Oodles of Boodles, lads.

Always been a bit of an Anglophile. I wonder what English people think of Americans who like English traditions and culture? They probably loathe it even if they like it. Cheeky.

I've always wanted to post this, and now you've given me the opportunity.

I used to do some free-lance work for a client based in the UK. Had to go over there occasionally. Before my first trip, some of the blokes e-mailed me the following "Notice of Revocation of Independence":

Always loved British humor.
