hs9 Lemania fleet air arm chronograph (HELP)

my grandad left me several vintage watches one of which is a lamania, not working, i have been told that it cant be repaired because the parts are not avaliable, is it this true ???

I suppose that depends on who you ask and what kind of access to vintage parts they have.

Just about anything can be fixed, it all depends on how deep your pockets are.

Parts can be made by some watchmakers. Do you have the funds to pay for repairs like that? I had to have a piece made for my repeater - the repair cost $900.

Parts certainly are available - you just can't order them from the factory. At worst, you may have to find a donor watch, which in the case of the HS9 is not impossible, as Lemania made these for several Commonwealth militaries. It is simply a test of patience and perseverance.

It might help for a watchmaker to give it a once over and let you know what is necessary. If it was a watchmaker that told you it can't be repaired, you may need to find another more expert in vintage watches - such a watchmaker usually is pretty savvy about where to track down parts.

your right i dont think the watch maker i took it to is that confident, hench thats why i am on here, i really want to get the watch back up and running. so i need good watchmakers names and place for parts.

Strictly speaking, we ought not to have helped without pictures - sort of unwritten forum policy😉 . We'd all love to see the Lemania, so post some pics when you can, even before you send it off. Then you can give us some visual followup after - that way, we can all see what kind of job was done, as well as eddicate ourselves about Lemanias.

That would be great. It would be neat to see some before and after pictures if it's not too much to ask. Those Lemania chronos are really cool btw. You can say they're related to the Speedmaster line in a way.
