·This is in our backyard hiking area that Max knows like the back of his paw. For up to about a week after a good rain, water remains in natural collection "bowls" in the boulders, and he knows at least a dozen of them. This is one of the most impressive rocks.

·Mrs. S and I got the dogs up into the mountains for the first time this summer, still a lot of snow up high. We hiked up into a lovely basin and made our way up to a high pond that was still frozen. The dogs love when we glissade on the way down, and they make it really fun by chasing us. Max is such a snow dog, he was lying in the snow every time we looked.

·Yesterday was my birthday, and we took Max and Opus on an adventure to climb a peak in the Maroon Bells-Snowmass wilderness. Here are some photos from the last push along a ridge with a snow cornice. It was a hard day, but we had beautiful weather and some fantastic views. As usual, it's a challenge to get a photo of Max where he is not lying down in a snowbank, or even in the rocks at the summit.
