Silly questions I'm sure i am about to ask.
but
Ive got 3 tags, F1, Monaco, Carrera. Ive had them for 14 years. I've never serviced them ever. Not once. They still keep perfect time.

The F1 being a quartz, obviously I have changed the battery a few times over the 14 years of ownership. But its my daily. And is mint, and has never had a problem. Is perfect in every way.

My Monaco - i rarely wear, only on special occasions. In 14 years I've probably worn it 20 times. So if you do the math, I hardly wear it. Its not kept on a winder, it is just kept in a safe.

The carrera, i wear alot more, on every second weekend. Not kept on a winder, never serviced, keeps perfect time.

I have a rolex sub mariner, never serviced either. I wear that quite a bit.

Am i missing something here, am i supposed to service them? Cos I havent, and they are in perfect working order even after 14 years,

My philosophy is to never fix what is not broken. The swiss marketing machine likes to have you believe that watches have a defined service intervall that MUST be serviced at least every 4-5 years. Complete bullshit ofc in order to maximize profits on servicing.

How did you determine they keep perfect time, did you do a gain/loss test in 5 positions and compared that with the timekeeping results when new? Oils dry whether you wear a watch daily or not.

ahh excellent question, that i probably should of mentioned in my post. I am not fanatical about precise time. I don't know if it gains or looses seconds a day. I always strangely enough keep my watches 5 mins forward so that I'm never late lol. My quirk i guess. But in saying my monaco and carrera always seem to be keeping the same time, its never loosing minutes or anything
