Hello,

I was wondering if you know a way to get a complete scan (pdf, pictures, whatever..) of the Heuer/Tag Heuer catalogs from the 1980s?

I know there are some archives on the official Tag Heuer website, but the catalogs are not complete:
https://www.tagheuer.com/ch/fr/collection-vintage/vintage-catalogues-and-price-lists.html

It's a really unfortunate that the calibre11.com website is closed...

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Igoreuf

Fortunately some lunatic ripped every catalogue from Calibre 11 before it got shut down...

What I find interesting is that TAG Heuer webpage will take you to @Jeff Stein's OnTheDash website when you click on a link for the catalog decade.

Which hints that TAG Heuer might have an even less complete archive of vintage catalogs compared to Calibre11 or OnTheDash.

I believe that TAG Heuer has a very good archive of their catalogs, both the old Heuer catalogs and the more recent TAG Heuer catalogs . . . no doubt, a better collection than Calibre 11 or OnTheDash.

I expect that the TAG Heuer site links to the OnTheDash catalog collection because I have the catalogs organized and ready for the reader to browse. No reason to TAG Heuer to repeat this effort.

As an aside, I have a few more of the very old ones (circa 1900 and 1915, for example) that I hope to be adding soon.

I would expect that TAG Heuer should have a near complete archive of the Heuer/TAG Heuer catalogs. That's why I find it interesting that they link to your OnTheDash site, because as good as yours is, it's not complete.

Even with the combined catalogs of OnTheDash and Calibre11, I've found there's a few years missing. Causing gaps when trying to trace a model's introduction and/or production changes.

It would be great if all the catalogs in TAG Heuer's Archive, OnTheDash, and Calibre11 could be consolidated into one spot. I'd guess that as part of the IP acquired through Calibre11.com's closure, that TAG Heuer has whatever catalogs they had, plus the ones that @Calibre11 (DC) had stored.

Assembling the catalogs (or at least scans of the catalogs) is the easy part. The more difficult task is cleaning up the scans, naming and sizing the images, creating the pages or folders for each of the catalogs, uploading the files, adding notes or introductions, etc., etc. I probably have hard copies or scans of 50 catalogs and brochures that I haven't managed to upload to OnTheDash . . . it's a lot of work.

I am confident that TAG Heuer has the best collection of the Heuer and TAG Heuer catalogs, but presenting them on a website is a major undertaking.

Also, I doubt that TAG Heuer obtained any catalog scans from what was the Calibre11 site . . . I believe that TAG Heuer has them all (or almost all of them), on its own.

I hear you, Jeff. But I find it a bit amusing, as you're just one person doing this stuff out of passion. 😀
While TAG Heuer is a 1.5 billion dollar company with many resources at its disposal to do this kind of work. 🤔

. . . and if someone could demonstrate that the return on investment to TAG Heuer from posting these catalogs was favorable, we would see more of them!!

I’ll try to add a few more of the catalogs in the near future.

That's the crux of it isn't it. Like there's no point in them providing the complete history and details of every 4000 ever made, because it won't lead to a single dollar of revenue. I'm not criticising them for that, it's just the reality of the situation. They focus on what brings in sales now. Stands to reason. There's only a few slightly obsessed fanbois on the internet who are really bothered anyway.

There are some intangibles with brands embracing their heritages, and building goodwill, but there are limits.

I have no idea what other brands do regarding their catalogs; at least many of the Heuer and TAG Heuer catalogs are available on other sites.

I get that. But why does TAG Heuer even bother to link to OnTheDash at all? That's the part that I find interesting.

Not that the info isn't great. But because OTD is an independent 3rd party site, of which there are several that house good historical info, including your TAG Heuer Enthusiast's blog, Rob.

As far as I know that catalog webpage is the only 3rd party independent link on TAG Heuer's official website. At first, I thought that TAG had actually posted from their own archive, then realized it was the OTD site I was redirected to.

So here’s TAG Heuer earlier today, posting some images of their old catalogs, their founders, Jack Heuer, etc., to celebrate Swiss National Day.

The romance of the brand’s heritage can be an important asset.
