Grand Seiko SBGY007 - New Release

I was able to catch the last moments of GS9 Club’s May event earlier this afternoon.

Two models will be announced midnight June 9, 2021: the SBGY007 “Omiwatari” featuring a dimpled/rippled dial inspired by the frozen Lake Suwa in the winter and the 9R31 manual-wind Spring Drive movement and a ladies’ model that I wasn’t able to handle. These photos are probably one of the first hands-on to come on the net since these were under embargo.

The SBGY007 is a gorgeous timepiece! Photos don’t do it justice as it’s the case with most Grand Seiko watches.

With MSRP of 8,300 USD, this piece is a regular production product! It comes on a black crocodile strap with blue stitching and the GS deployant buckle.

Thanks for sharing some live pics!
That dial is lovely, just makes me want to fall backwards into it, wave my arms and legs and make some snow angels.
Though the SPRING DRIVE font does disturb the scene of serenity on the dial (but that's just me)

The dial looks amazing and is - of course - reminiscent of the Snowflake. The case seems a bit dull though, especially - again - compared to the Snowflake.

I agree - the dial is just amazing. The movt however looks a bit messy in the lower half.

This I don’t mind, the case looks nicer than many previous models and the dial is quite remarkable, I do have to agree with @NT931 though in that the movement and especially the lower half of it looks like a speed limit sign that a redneck has used for target practice

nope, it's not just you. "spring drive" kills it. pretty much you have to accept it if this watch comes a callin'
