Grand Seiko SBGA211 lost by Fedex - ser 77N0xx - presume stolen; please look out

hi all

Fedex UK have lost a package being sent to me, that contained a mint Grand Seiko SBGA211 ("Snowflake").

It's been missing for nearly 2 months and they've concluded that it's lost and might turn up one day, but there's nothing more they can do to look for it. In the meantime, I can only assume it's been stolen within Fedex's own network. Unfortunately, the package was not fully insured so I'm very out of pocket unless it shows up.

Please: if you see or get offered a GS Snowflake (like this - with Grand Seiko at the top of the dial, rather than near the 6 o'clock), with serial number starting 77N0xx, and it doesn't have papers, then it's quite possibly my watch, and I'd appreciate if you could let me know.

I have the GS box & papers but it was being transported in a Seiko Prospex box.

Isn't the onus on the seller/shipper of the watch to have it fully insured or deal with the consequences?

I agree. Unless the buyer refused insurance for some reason, personally I would think it's on the seller to refund the buyer and deal with it on their end...

I believe that is what the seller said. He didn't fully insure it, and now he has to eat the rest....

I wonder how cheap he'd sell it for because that's a sweet watch.

OP is the buyer though. So I don't get why he would have to eat the cost. Again unless he specifically requested the package not to be insured for some reason.

Apologies, I read it wrong. you're right the seller needs to refund this guys money and deal with FedEx himself...

This is total bullshit. Who ships an expensive watch uninsured? I hate to pour salt in a wound here but the seller should have shipped fully insured and you should never have accepted anything less. What is the seller saying to you?

Exactly - if he wanted to save a few $ on shipping and skip the insurance, he's responsible for the loss.

That's great advice 😀

It's assumed stolen because Fedex have been looking for it for 7 weeks and concluded that they can't find it. So either it's:
* disappeared into thin air
* sitting somewhere unexpected in the Fedex delivery hub, possibly short of its outer packaging and therefore shipping label
* being sold down the pub by a dodgy fellow as "this nice little Seiko wot I got, yours for £50"

Man those minute and hour hands are crisp.
FedEx has been known to loose a parcel for a few months so hang in.

So tell us how your wearing the cost @ewand

Seller's photo looks too similar to yours to be a coincidence.
Even the date is the same.
Something stinks in Denmark.

Could be yours is already on the block.
Its either the same one as the 3rd pic is same pic as the op's or just been taken off the net for the listing as the 1st pic on the listing has a different date

Correct, I just found a library image of a Snowflake. I'd now wonder why the seller of that Ebay item is also using a library image... 😗
