If you were to take out that skyscraper on the right I wouldn't even be able to tell a difference! It definitely has a south Florida feel to it. I bet those houses and condos run in the multi-million AUD range. Just as Florida.

For the most part we just have newspapers with nothing better to write about.

The Gold Coast is family-friendly, and has a strong beach-oriented culture. It's a very, very safe place (even Surfers Paradise). I've seen some pretty dodgy looking areas in Miami and Fort Lauderdale 馃榾

I'm lucky - I'm too far south and west of those areas to be noticed. 馃槣 We don't get planted in the Pine Barrens if somebody has a problem with someone else, we just have a good bar fight now & again mixed in with a little road rage. 馃槈

Everything I know about Detroit I learned from 'Hardcore Pawn'. I don't think I'll ever go to visit. The endless beaches and bikinis here will suit me just fine, thanks 馃榾

Last episode of Boardwalk Empire tonight.

The thread strays further ... 馃槑

The early city planning and construction was all a copy of what was happening in Florida. There's tons of similarites between the two regions.

Certainly looks like Ft. Lauderdale, doesn't it? 馃槑

I live just south of there, about halfway between Miami and FTL.

Take care,

Let's just hope they don't copy their plummeting housing market and ever expanding void between the rich and the poor. That looks like a beautiful place to live. The only thing that would bother me is not being able take a jaunt up into the mountains and go snowboarding or any other winter sports. Not talking about Florida vs. the Gold Coast but in general between the countries. Unless I am mistaken....

Boca and Deerfield Beach are some of my favorite areas in south Florida. The only place to be in Florida is on the coast. Anywhere inland the humidity and heat are ridiculous.

Inland of the Gold Coast is some smaller mountain ranges, mostly rainforest and lush vegetation. It's quite nice. There is decent snow in Australia, but it's further south in Victoria, New South Wales, and Tasmania. The Gold coast is right on the edge of sub-tropical/tropical type climates, so there's perfect weather but cyclones generally can't reach us.

Mt Tamborine, which is a very short drive inland from the GC:

I've done quite a bit of traveling, and I must say that the Gold Coast/South East Queensland region is the closest I've ever seen to perfection on so many levels. I grew up in the freezing cold wasteland of Winnipeg, Canada. I'd spent years researching better places to live. 馃榾

Mountains? What are they? he highest elevation in the entire state of Florida is probably 400 ft., and that's a long way way from here.
I never saw a bunch of happier people to be in Florida that when I went to the Panthers hockey game against Winnipeg last week.

Take care,

The highest peaks behind the Gold Coast region are about 3800', not huge. Nice backdrop though 馃榾

Too funny about the Winnipeg crowd flying down for hockey.

Probably not. A long Caribbean cruise would likely be cheaper than the flight home, anyhow.

I meant if I wanted to go up into the Appalachians. Not anywhere in Florida. Haha

I believe that is a 166.128 or 166.0128

You seem to be missing the bezel/lugs...

What have you decided to do?
