Just picked up this Gallet. I'm stumped as to how to use the cities track/world timer. To me, I think the cities are backwards. Shouldn't Chicago be an hour behind NYC? Clearly, I'm an idiot but it has stumped me. How do you use it?

Hi Haga, I moved your thread over to the 'Other' forum as the Gallet FO is not (thankfully) unique. To answer your question, I believe you set the '12' on the bezel over the second time zone while you keep the watch on 'home time' which is New York City - of course 馃榿

I'll use the opportunity to post an early one that I happen to have

Here's a much later one...still "Havai" though. Dial painter apparently moonlighted as a comedian in the Catskills

Any one else got any Flying Officers?

Lou,

That is an outstanding sample of these highly appealing FO, congratulations for this one, I wish I could reach one of these one day or the other, they have so much to offer.

My understanding is that beyond the innovative waterproof "clamshell type" screwed case, these could be the first chronographs wearing a rotating bezel

Here's the patent sheet

is that assumption sounds correct to you ?

Hi Noodia,
I believe the Rolex Zerographe (with rotating bezel) preceded the Gallet FO, 1937 or so. Longines also made a stop second with r. Bezel about 38/39. Wasn't Gallet 1940?
