Serial number dates it to 1961 which is correct for the date at 12 caliber 341's inside Flagships. Crown is a replacement, and the case is polished a bit - very noticeable on the raised relief ship. Overall a mediocre example but I'd go up to $1400 for it. Mint specimens do pop up and can be had for $1800 and up now. If you see one with no date or a date at 3 you can sometimes score it for $1600-ish.

I have no designs on it - I proposed it as an excercise for my own education. The hands are correct? And what about that eccentric movement - is there a purpose to that?

That "candy ribbon" design on the dial is a turn off for me...

Yep, correct hands. Couldn't tell you why the rotor is offset, that's just the way the 34x and 35x series were made.

Many sellers just don't know any better and think that everyone wants shiny instead of crisp edges. They don't realize that collectors will pay top dollar for prime condition unmolested watches. They're catering to the uneducated masses.
