This one is from the web but is much clearer than I could have taken. These caseback engravings are based on a children's drawing competition. This was won by a young girl from Uganda.

Does your Portuguese also have a special caseback or is it an open display back?

Wrist is about 6 inches but I think this one fits pretty well. Also ordered a strap from IWC to change up the look!

Those proportions are perfect on your wrist! A strap sounds like a nice idea...I wonder if they have one in rubber or Kevlar for a casual look...

It does have a case back picture. I’ll see if I can take a shot when I get home.

Here you are. My Laureus. Also adding a pic of the petit Prince edition and it’s very charming caseback.

I have been collecting vintage watches exclusively for the last 8 years or so. My last modern purchase was an Omega Seamaster 2254.50, which I still wear regularly. Most modern offerings have not impressed me enough to make a purchase. Recently, however, I have been losing interest in vintage watches and have sold some watches from my collection.

For those who have seen my posts before, you know that I have a focused interest in anti-magnetic watches. I have owned and enjoyed vintage IWC 666A, 666AD, and 866AD as well as Omega Railmaster. These watches are all smaller than 40mm and offer a thin profile on the wrist.

Modern iterations of the Ingenieur have all been quite thick and large on the wrist. For example, the IW3227 Ingenieur case is approximately 43mm wide and 15mm thick. I have a 6.75" wrist and these watches would never work on me.

While searching eBay last week, an Ingenieur reference came up that I had not seen before - IW3239. This reference was first introduced in 2013 and offered in 3 dial combinations - black, white with silver markers, white with gold markers. There was also a special Laureus Sport for Good Foundation limited edition introduced in 2015. This watch came with a blue dial and red second hand. The total release was limited to 1500 pieces. When I saw this watch, I fell in love with it.

Looking at previous eBay listings and Watchrecon, the Laureus edition does no

So nice! I hate what IWC did with the newest line of Ingenieur watches. That's no "engineer"! But these are awesome!

Totally agree - the latest aren't even anti-magnetic.

I was hoping IWC would release an updated Ingenieur this year but instead they went with the Big Pilot line. Hopefully next year...

I've spoken with Christoph Grainger-Herr about my distaste for the modern line. It was designed before he came up and I believe he understands that it is not a good offering. I bet they are already working on a more appropriate replacement!

That would be fantastic. The more they hear from collectors and enthusiasts, the more likely they will make favorable changes. I think Omega has done a nice job of this with their recent releases.

Still can't beat the vintage Ingenieurs though!
