hi everyone,

would like to share my excitement and joy, my first Patek after 15 years of wath collection! I have gone thru many brands, like Rolex, AP, Lange, GO, GP, Chopard, Cartier, Panerai, Seiko, Fortis.. but never a Patek!

After my research, I decided on the 5056, the look, the size just fit my small wrist. Best part is, my wife can also take it out!

cheers!

Growing up, my stepdad was VP of advertising for Tropicana here in Orlando when they used to have their headquarters here till the early 70's. Before coming to them he has a real Mad Man in NYC and had a part time gig on the side as a rep for Patek. He would bring home all the new offering as a kid NY and man did I just love to look at them. It was back in the days of "children are seen and not heard" so you didn't ask many questions. He would let me hold them sitting on the couch with a pillow on my lap and he would tell me "if this little motor could be made to run a car, it would be the best engine ever and would run forever. That is how well made this watch is, it is the best and always will be".
Patek gave him a minute repeater for breaking a yearly sales record and I just loved it when he would make it chime for me. He and mom got divorced, as like on Mad Men he was a heavy drinker and it was too much to live with. He passed away in the 80's but I have away wondered what happened to his musical Patek. The impressions of childhood last a lifetime.

Might be worth asking some relatives what happened to it

Calling relatives? For a Patek minute repeater, it's worth going out to the cemetery with a shovel.
