OF had some bad experiences with people in the past who came here without introduction and only for appraising watches. I think this caused members to become more reluctant to provide information without knowing the intentions of the newcomer. That's why members often explain to newcomers to give a bit of context regarding the watch and their question. You know, the whole give and take community thing iso just taking...

Fair point. I fully agree that anyone who seeks help here should do it in an appropriate manner. And, of course, it is difficult to draw the line between scroungers and those seriously interested.

But it's still up to you whether you respond or not.

I think that some few here can give more valuable information than many others, so there will never be a balance of give and take.

But I'm convinced that those who know more than others don't consider the sharing of their knowledge as a sacrifice but as a gift.
