Fair price for CW2118

I have been eyening the monaco for a while and now have a opportunity to own a used CW2118 for ~$5000, wondering if this is a good deal? Just a few more details to help evaluate... The strap on the watch has been changed and it does have a few hairline scuffs on the plexi and one on the casing. Still waiting for the pics though.

Any feedback from the experts would be appreciated. Thanks.

New strap is a bonus (they're expensive) and given this watch is from 2005, I guess a couple of scratches are fairly normal.

Having said that, it is certainly top dollar for this watch. I would be looking to pay more like $3000-4000, depending on condition, box, papers, does it come with a warranty, etc.

I had a near mint CW211A (with original caseback sticker intact) that I sold around a year ago for around USD4000, so I wouldn't pay that much for the CW2118 with that scratch on the side of the case. Around $3500 would be more like it, I think.

Check Chrono24 to get an indication; they are all below 4K.

A brand new one fetches 5K, but I'm sure it can be had for less.

Right now I have no knowledge if box and papers are available, will find out the details and update. Also thanks for the tentative price range.

So I finally have more details... No box or papers and I can get it for ~$4K with 2 years warranty on movement.

Now I am wondering are the box/papers really important for the watch to hold its future value? Your comments are appreciated in advance.

Box/papers = provenance + evidence of potential careful ownership. A watch is usually worth more with them, so I would discount accordingly, but there's no reason to believe a watch without box/papers will depreciate any faster than one with.
