Up front I know very little about these pieces immediately I was suspicious as I thought it looked more like an Air King?
The hands did not look correct and the lack of numerals, so ::facepalm1:: tell me how wrong I am.

Looks like a regular old Precision model and somebody added EXPLORER to the dial.

I think the watch in question is probably just fine.

Here is an example from the Dowling/Hess book The Best of Time Rolex Wristwatches.

There are several other examples shown which don't have numerals on the dial as well.
