Other variations are possible.
I believe (but please correct me if I’m wrong):
- 2 pointy hands and one flat
- 3 pointy hands
- 3 flat hands

looks like any combination (except possibly 1 pointy and 2 flat hands) goes...
but were those configurations how they left the 'factory' or has it just become acceptable over the years?

IMO you'll never get a truly accurate answer for this question. At the time these exotics came out UG was going through major changes as a company and they were putting out all kinds of weird (*and beautiful) shit

Well, I’m late to the thread and to the actual reference (as usual!) but so excited to have added an Exotic Nina blue dial to my Universal Geneve collection. With fewer than 25-30 or so examples of Reference 885108 (blue dial variation) known to still exist in the world according to the author of the UG “Ten” book (also a member here, I think, and on instagram at @heuervintage), I never thought I’d be fortunate enough to land one into my Universal Genève collection. But when opportunity knocks…sometimes you’ve just gotta open the door, right?!? HUGE thanks to the very small community of passionate UG collectors whose own examples inspired me, as well as to all those who helped make this one happen!!

I don't have anything meaningful to contribute except to say that is an awesome piece!

Thanks @Larry S - you know me, I’m a compete sucker when it comes to these vintage UG beauties. I’ve now crossed a few decades in my collection… 1940s and 1950s Tri’s, 1960s Compax and Uni-Compax, and now 1970 or so. Universal really had an amazing run at the height of their design creativity….

Congrats ! Really nice.

It’s getting more and more difficult to find good examples.

To all the lucky owners of Nina’s out there- please give me a shout if you consider to sell -even the second or third best in your collections….

If anyone out there in OF land snagged the Exotic Nina 885108 (blue dial) that just was listed for sale this weekend - and sold almost immediately - on Watchpool24, please private message me. I’d love to ask you something about it. Thanks in advance - and congrats!!

Met up with a fellow OF member for lunch yesterday, and among other items on the menu, were a pair of these beauties. Oh, and a few other special pieces too. More pics on IG, also at @MarktheTime there.

Had the exact same reaction.

There's watch collecting, and then there's whatever this is. I think we found the trilateral commission.
